Epulis
Epulis is the term given to some overgrowths of gums.
These are particularly common in Boxer dogs. Sometimes the growths can become so large that they actually hide teeth. Unfortunately any peridontal disease and its associated pain carries on behind the covering wall of gum.
The other important feature is distinguishing epulis from tumours. This is best done with the aid of radiography and biopsies.
As a rule - Epulis should be removed and investigated.
