Dental Referrals

There are a number of veterinary surgeons that are willing to accept referral dental cases from colleagues.

These can be cases that require more complex treatment or where the referring practice does not have the equipment (such as intra-oral radiography) or the experience to deal with the problem. Sometimes a referral can be simply a way of having your own advice confirmed by a colleague "Yes Mrs Smith, your vet was quite right to say that orthodontic movement of this tooth would have to be reported to the Kennel Club."

Typically referral cases can comprise - root canal treatments for fractured teeth, fitting crown restorations to fractured teeth, complex extractions, or whole mouth extractions (such as in Feline Stomatitis cases), investigation of missing teeth, orthodontic cases – such as where the bottom canines are impacting on the hard palate, oral mass investigations, maxillectomy, mandibulectomies, reconstructive surgery such as after oro-nasal fistulae development.
